What has social media done to us?

Two days ago was my little girl’s birthday. I had put a picture of her and a little poem wishing her. This was followed by other people wishing her. Somewhere along the line, someone decided that it was my birthday and decided to wish me a happy birthday!

It was strange how many people wished me, some of them very close friends. OK, not everyone will remember my birthdate, but even the month? Do we depend on social media so much to remind us of birthdays and just mechanically wish people. Do we not even look at the comments before typing in our wishes? I had gone and posted on every single post that it was not my birthday and yet people have been wishing me for the past couple of days! Sigh!
